Tri-State Laboratories Inc, was established in October of 1978 as a forensic laboratory in Austintown, Ohio. TSL soon realized the need for an environmental lab in the Youngstown area and the laboratory expanded its testing capabilities. By June of 1986, TSL had outgrown the Austintown facility; therefore, the lab relocated to downtown Youngstown, Ohio. With the relocation came the addition of the organic department. As the number of instruments and the sample volume grew, TSL once again needed a larger facility. In June of 1993, TSL moved to its present location on Salt Springs Road in Youngstown, Ohio. TSL became Cardinal Environmental Laboratories LLC, in February of 2006, focusing entirely on environmental analysis.

CEL environmental department is currently certified by the State of Ohio to perform a wide range of tests on drinking water. For your convenience, CEL will subcontract any analysis not included in our certification to a certified laboratory. CEL is also equipped to analyze wastewater, soils, sludge’s, and many other matrices.

CEL provides all sample bottles, sampling instructions, coolers, and chain of custody forms at no additional charge. CEL also offers a courier and sampling service.
